Batch Processing

Introduction

Another common task in the geospatial programming world is batch processing. Imaging having to process 10,000 files one at a time! Now, imaging writing a Python script to process all the files. You write the script, run it, and walk away. In a day or two all the files have been processed. It is not quite that easy but pretty close.

Below we have provided a set of 4 files from a 1 meter DEM for Napa County. The entire dataset took almost 2 weeks to process on 4 computers and, of course, we used Python!
